Authors and Articles

Authors publishing text or images in TEXTILE FORUM magazine will do so free of charge, and out of their own interest in the propagation of information.

The editors reserve the right to abridge or refrain from using text and image submissions. In principle, however, we warmly welcome any kind of contribution. In cases where the preparation or production of text and image submissions is time-consuming, authors should contact our editorial office so that the form and content of the contribution they wish to make may be agreed.

After publication the text and/or image authors retain their copyright. Re-prints or other re-uses of the material must be re-authorised by the author.

Original illustrations, whether published or not, will be returned to the author if mail delivery was agreed. The same does not automatically apply to text contributions mailed to us.

Our editors will endeavour to meet all requests that authors may have in connection with a publication.

Type of Contribution

Previews of events

(Preferred by our editors!)
Exhibitions, shows, competitions or other judged events, courses, seminars, conferences, symposia etc. should be published at least three months prior to commencement. Previews should describe the type, extent and target group of an event as well as its importance for the target group in an international context. Exact details as to the dates, location and organisers are also required. Previews may be brief or detailed depending on the significance attached to an event. Photographic illustrations are highly desirable!

Reviews of events

Reviews of events should be current and of international interest. Otherwise the same criteria as for previews apply.

Special reports

We consider special reports to be comprehensive contributions that need not necessarily be current, but should throw light on an interesting aspect relating to the field covered by the magazine; or they should deepen a specific issue not relating to the theme dealt with by the respective issue of the magazine. They should be well researched and illustrated.

Theme contributions

Each issue of our magazine will focus on specific themes which will be announced in the preceding issue. The editors reserve the right to use their own discretion in the selection of contributions on a given theme. Interested authors should, in all cases, agree their chosen contributions with our editors in advance.

Other contributions

Letters from our readers and brief notes are welcome for each issue of our magazine.

Letters should contain details as to which passages are to be published, and should include the author's complete address.

Under the heading of 'Brief Notes', we publish mixed information on any kind of news from the textile cultural scene. Notes should be phrased briefly and succinctly, and above all should contain details of their source (address).

Transmission of text and images

Only typewritten text should be submitted. We favour email transmissions. Text transmissions using a diskette or other text media should be arranged in advance with our editors. Textile documents will be processed in our editorial department on a Macintosh system using 'Word' software. DOS documents will be converted by prior arrangement with our editors.

A magazine page completely filled with text will require around 9100 or 9800 typed characters, depending on whether it is in three or four columns.

Photographs are best presented as colour slides or in digital form. Picture prints are also usable.
